El Rumor Del Incendio @ Brut Wiener Festwochen 2012

In Mexico in the 1960s, young revolutionaries took up arms in a desperate attempt to change society. A few decades later, the children of those guerilleros retrace the struggle of their elders. Archeologists of meaning, Luisa Pardo, Francisco Barreiro and Gabino Rodríguez furiously delve into the past, unearthing the tarnished artefacts of recent history bathed in blood, sweat and tears. At the heart of their excavation lie the remains of an unresolved conflict.

Using documents, scale models and figurines and working with a shoestring budget nourished by unbridled imagination and an extraordinary sense of narrative, they have concocted an epic documentary theatre that sheds light on their passionate craving for rebellion, a heritage of the utopian desires of their predecessors.

Espetáculo El rumor del incendio remexe história recente do México

O grupo mexicano Lagartijas tiradas al sol foi buscar na história recente do país o material para montar El rumor del incendio, em cartaz nesta quinta e sexta-feira, às 21h, na Sala Multiuso do Espaço Cultural Renato Russo (508 Sul). A antropóloga Margarita Urías Hermosillo, ativista empenhada em lutas sociais durante as décadas de 1960 e 1970, serviu de inspiração à companhia. Mãe da atriz Luísa Prado, que integra o Lagartijas ao lado de Francisco Barreiro e Gabino Rodríguez, Margarita foi figura de referência em movimentos revolucionários do México e personagem central de El rumor del incendio.

O trabalho não se resume à encenação. A pesquisa do grupo foi além do material de palco e rendeu também um blog, um documentário e um livro com orientação iconográfica do fotógrafo Juan Leduc. O grupo queria construir um projeto no qual pudesse investigar os movimentos armados revolucionários da década de 1960 no México. Para Gabino Rodriguez, era uma forma de falar da geração de seus próprios pais e de um momento pouco explorado da história do país.
